Welcome to Tempo Skien 2008!

TEMPO Skien 2008 is an annual outdoor exhibition situated in The Harbour Park (Bryggeparken) and the surrounding town centre area in Skien, Norway.

The 2008 edition presents 17 works made by 13 artists: Bjørn Bjarre (N), Åsil Bøthun (N), Stefan Christiansen (N), Ellen Jakobsson Strømsø (S/N), Pål Gusdal Jomås (N), Morten Kildevær Larsen (N), Kristina Müntzing (S), Matt O’dell (UK), Bob & Roberta Smith (UK), Kasper Sonne (DK/USA), Sound of Mu (N), Ingebjørg Torgersen (N) and Sveinung Rudjord Unneland (N). Guided tours starting in Bryggeparken at 1 PM June 1st June 15th, June 28th, August 30th, September 7th and October 4th and finishing in Biohallen, Klosterøya approximately 2.30 PM.

Tempo Skien 2008 ends Saturday October 4th with an event by Sound of Mu. This is the second part of their project for the exhibition. More info will be available when we get closer. Official opening with guided tour in the Harbour Park, Saturday May 31st, 1 P.M. The same night Sound Of Mu presents One cannot deny it might just happen.

Thursday May 29th at 6 PM - artist presentations - Skiens kunstforening, Ibsenhuset, Skien. Åsil Bøthun, Pål Gusdal Jomås, Morten Kildevæld Larsen, Kristina Müntzing, Ingebjørg Torgersen og Sveinung Rudjord Unneland.

Friday May 30th at 7 PM - Biohallen, Klosterøya Pål Jomås’ event and video work entitled Bruket, kontrollrom nord/The mill, control room north will be presented for the first time in Skien.

Tonight’s programme is: Barbecue, homemade cakes, meeting with the workers form Union mill, the lecture After the factory by researcher Thomas Brandt, NTNU, screening of Bruket, kontrollrom nord/The mill, control room north portraying the workers at Union, Kjell Åge Isaksen tells about the place and its people, and concert with Kåre Virud and Bård Slagsvold.

Saturday May 31st at 7 PM - Ooa hela natten , Skien Sound of Mu presents One cannot deny it might just happen. A night with contributions from bands such as Lasso and 3 Øre, as well as other surprises. Sound of Mu will present the second part of their project October 4th in conjunction with the Tempo Skien 2008 seminar on art in the public.
