Breast height
The tree can be perceived as a simple symbol, a superfluous contribution to a world of images we have already analysed. But this sound work is not about the tree as an image of something else, but rather about science having imperfections, and that there is advice we shouldn’t take. In between the poetic stories, we get facts based on experience: there should be two-and-a-half metres between every spruce plant in a field. This might be the artist’s way of encouraging us to try to experience our surroundings in a new way. And by exchanging the heavy noise of the traffic surrounding the park with Breastheight, it is exactly what we do.

About Ingebjørg Torgersen
Ingebjørg Torgersen’s work range from radio drama, tv drama and fiction film to performing arts and documentary.
Ingebjørg was born 1963 in Lørenskog, Norway. She graduated from The National Film School of Denmark in 1991. Today she divides her time between Oslo and her family’s Hafstein farm in Telemark County, Norway where she develops films, theatre and trees. She is the founder and current leader of Woman in Film and Television – Norway and is in 2008 about to finish the documentary film The daughters of Sudan.
